The TutoringZone staff lives in, works in, and loves Gainesville. It is because of this that we stay very involved in the Gainesville community. From sponsoring philanthropic events to sending tutors to free study nights put on by various organizations, we are always looking for ways to give back to the community.
If you have a cause that you believe would be a great one for TutoringZone to support, please email us at

. Of course, we cannot be involved in all of the hundreds (literally, hundreds!) of things we are emailed about, but we try our hardest to do as much as possible.
One program that is very near and dear to our hearts is CHAMPS (Collegiates Helping As Mentors in Public Schools). As undergraduates at UF, some of the TZ staff participated in the program, which is sponsored by the Alachua County School Volunteer Program and is a mentoring service for elementary and middle school students. As one of CHAMPS’ ‘PARTNERS IN EDUCATION,’ TutoringZone STRONGLY encourages all of our students to sign up for this one-hour-per-week experience, as you can truly affect the well-being of a child in our community while at the same time enhancing your own life. For more information, you can visit the CHAMPS website at http://www.sbac.edu/~volprog/volunteersbacover.htm.
Another organization that we encourage students to donate their time to is the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program. For more information on how to become a Big Brother or Big Sister visit their website at:
www.bbbsmidflorida.org
Also, we understand that many students at UF think that they cannot take advantage of our services due to a lack of financial resources. This is simply not the case. We make sure that financial problems are never the reason why a student cannot attend a Review Session or enjoy the benefits of our other programs. We do, however, require that every student who receives free TutoringZone services participate in the CHAMPS or Big Brothers Big Sisters programs. If you or someone you know would like financial assistance from TutoringZone, simply email

before the end of the first week of the semester.
TutoringZone's Business Idea Competition:
In an effort to promote the entrepreneurial spirit at all of the Universities we tutor at, a number of years ago we created a "Business Idea Competition" here at TutoringZone. The rules are simple and the competition is open to any and all undergraduates at the University of Florda, University of Georgia and Florida State University. Our "Business Idea Competition" is open for submissions every fall semester, and the deadline for submission is 12/1 (at midnight). The competition is done in association with the University of Florida's Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI), which runs a "Business PLAN Competition" each year and awards prizes totaling $25,000.
For a complete list of rules, details about the competition as well as the applcation please go to the following link:http://tzuf.tutoringzone.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=61&Itemid=9
